Does your child want to be the next Iron Chef? This unique offering will not only work on developing your child's skills in order to be proficient and confident in the kitchen but each will also be immersed in learning Italian through cooking. Basic Italian vocabulary and conversation related to each lesson will be presented in a fun and engaging manner while kids cut, chop, stir, mix, and assemble their their creations to bring home at the end of each lesson.
This 4-week session follows the theme of a typical Italian meal.
Week One (Antipasto): Italian introductions and vocabulary followed by preparation of traditional Italian bruschetta.
Week Two (Primo piatto): Continuation of Italian vocabulary and introduction to basic conversationfollowed by preparation of either homemade pasta or homemade ravioli.
Week Three (Secondo piatto): Eliminating the use of most English while students prepare melanzana fritta (eggplant parmesan).
Week Four (Dolce): Continued immersion in Italian and preparation of the ever-popular dessert, tiramisu.
There will be no cooking on-site. All dishes will be prepared and prepped but may need to be cooked at home. All skill levels are welcome. These are 1.5 hour drop off classes for students grades 2-5 and students can be bussed directly from HCS to the Wiggle Room. Cost of the program (including all food/materials) is $85.
